Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 blockbuster F1: The Movie has shifted from cinemas to home viewing, with the film now available on major digital platforms worldwide.

After its theatrical release in late June, the Apple Original film, produced in collaboration with Formula 1 and distributed by Warner Bros., was made available on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) on August 22.

Fans can rent or purchase the film through Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Sky Store in the UK.

Rental prices range between £15.99 and £19.99, while purchase options are typically set between £19.99 and £24.99, depending on the region.

The release strategy follows Apple’s hybrid distribution model, in which a theatrical run is followed by a PVOD window before the title arrives on the company’s own subscription platform.

While Apple has not yet confirmed a date, F1: The Movie is expected to join Apple TV+ later in the year, likely within 70 to 100 days of its cinema debut, in line with other Apple Original films.

For now, audiences eager to see Pitt’s portrayal of fictional driver Sonny Hayes alongside real-life Formula 1 cars and circuits will need to turn to PVOD services, but its eventual arrival on Apple TV+ will give subscribers a longer-term streaming option.

The movie proved a major commercial success in cinemas, opening to $55.6 million (£42.3m) domestically and $144 million (£109.4m) worldwide, before going on to gross around $186 million (£141.4m) in North America and a further $419 million (£318.4m) internationally, for a total of nearly $606 million (£460.5m) by late August.

The result marked the biggest opening of Pitt’s career, surpassing his previous record with World War Z, and established the project as Apple Studios’ first box office hit.
