Jean-Pierre Beltoise, 1937-2015

Jean-Pierre Beltoise, winner of the 1972 Monaco Grand Prix for BRM, has died aged 77. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Beltoise was an accomplished racer on two and four wheels, his career in the latter disipline hampered by arm injuries suffered in 1963. Had he been fully fit, many believe he would have been up there with the very best.

His 1972 Monaco win stands as his crowning achievement in motor sport, a wet weather drive for the ages – David Malsher’s 2001 feature on that race, plus an assessment of Beltoise as a driver, appeared in the April 2001 issue of Motor Sport. Click here to read more.
