Ferrari’s 2002 F1 championship-winning car has returned to the track with a Schumacher at the wheel.
Mick Schumacher drove the F2002, which his father took to three race victories, in a run at Ferrari’s Fiorano track before the car is auctioned later this month.
Chassis number 219 was part of Michael Schumacher’s fifth title-winning season, winning at Imola, the A1-Ring and in the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, which secured the championship.
“It was always a dream for me to drive this car,” said Mick. “It was also the first time for me to drive a Formula 1 car on the Fiorano track so it was very special.”

“Bringing together Mick and the F2002 was a special moment for everyone involved as well as an historic moment for both Formula 1 and Ferrari,” said Oliver Camelin, car specialist at RM Sotheby’s.
“To witness Michael’s son, in this incredible car, at the home of Scuderia Ferrari was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and truly underlined the significance of the F2002 to Michael and Ferrari’s racing legacy.”
