Formula 1’s winner on Grand Prix debut, Giancarlo Baghetti, was born 82 years ago this Christmas Day.
His win in the Ferrari 156 was spectacular not only for the fact that it was his Grand Prix debut but also its manner, decided only on the final corner. Slipstreaming Dan Gurney, Baghetti ducked out in time to poke the shark nose of his Ferrari over the line first by just a tenth.
