Mark Webber took the Porsche 919 around the sights of London this morning, with the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid trailing behind before its world launch at the Paris Motor Show.
Six months in the planning, the run was veiled in secrecy until the night before.
Speaking afterwards, Mark Webber said: “It was a pretty optimistic route to be fair around London, taking in Parliament Square, Park Lane Piccadilly, Big Ben. We stopped a lot of traffic but they pretty excited to see the car so it was double whammy on that front. It was real showstopper, I really enjoyed it.
“It was tricky, visibility is really difficult in that car so I couldn’t see the kerbs and a few things made it more interesting that I thought it would be. Its net really smooth, weather was great; it ticked a big box!
“It was a special moment – people would literally stop in their track. It looks incredibly futuristic, under the bonnet it’s incredibly futuristic and looks gorgeous. I won’t forget the emotion on the day and the amount of people whose jaws were on the deck and were able to soak it up.”
