The World Endurance Championship will return to Interlagos, Brazil, for the 2019-20 season.

The 6 Hours of São Paulo means that the series will return to Autódromo José Carlos Pace for the first time since 2014. Bruno Senna, 2017 LMP2 champion, will be the event’s ambassador.

FIA president Jean Todt praised the move and Brazil’s racing tradition.

“The return of the WEC to São Paulo is very good news for the many Brazilian motor sport fans and is fully supported by the FIA. The history and heritage of this great country, which is so passionate about all forms of motor sport, has always included the discipline of endurance racing. A return by the WEC to Brazil enables us to continue to bring our sport to audiences around the world.”

WEC CEO Gérard Neveu echoed Todt’s statement and added that Senna’s inclusion as ambassador was a “real honour.”

“[Senna] is undoubtedly one of the best drivers from the WEC,” said Neveu during Thursday’s press conference.
