Video: Alex Brundle at Le Mans Classic — driver's-eye view of an epic weekend

Motorsport Videos & Video News

From exhilarating laps to heart-stopping moments, Alex Brundle rarely had a dull moment at the 2025 Le Mans Classic. Watch as he races a Ford GT40, battling contemporary rivals, the elements, and the circuit itself

For one weekend this July, the clock was turned back at Le Mans to recreate the sights, sounds and atmosphere of legendary races from decades past; a spectacle that attracted more than 238,000 spectators.

But the full Le Mans Classic experience was reserved for the few hundred drivers who, over the course of three races per category — held day and night — felt the same surges of adrenaline and sinking disappointments as those who compete in the full 24 Hours.

Now you can get a sense of that competition, thanks to our partnership with Le Mans 24 Hours veteran Alex Brundle, who returned to La Sarthe at the wheel of a Ford GT40. Cameras followed Brundle throughout the weekend, as he and a grid of over 80 cars re-staged battles of the late 1960s, among the Fords, Ferraris, Porsches, Lolas and many more.

The result is a stunning video, featuring both on-board and trackside footage, as Brundle navigates the packed start; tiptoes through slippery conditions at night, and then slithers through the final race in heavy rain. He provides full commentary on key moments, from his unlucky break early in the weekend to the exhilaration of a brilliant drive, as well as heart-stopping drama and the inevitable mechanical issues.

“Will the brakes work?” He asks at one point, and then later describes “one of the most frightening things that’s happened to me at Le Mans”. Simply being among the raft of historic sports cars is “a schoolboy dream”.

You can read Brundle’s full account of the weekend in our September 2025 issue. But for now, sit back, press play, and enjoy the full Le Mans Classic experience with the video above.
