Welcome to Aston Martin
Collectors’ edition - From race to road
Few car marques have as long and as proud a history as Aston Martin, from faltering beginnings before World War One to today’s luxurious coupés of immense performance and sophistication, all developed against a background of impressive racing success. In that time this most British of British makes has been through its tough periods, with financial struggles and multiple owners, and yet through it all the winged Aston badge has always signified a true sports car, assembled with pride by a skilled workforce.
Raced since the very beginning by various incarnations of the factory and by privateers, Aston Martins have made their mark in arenas from hillclimbs to prototype sports cars, including conquering the great Le Mans 24 Hours and taking the 1959 World Sportscar Championship – and today those Aston wings continue to fly high in international GT racing.
Motor Sport magazine has been reporting on Aston Martin since our very first issue (as the Brooklands Gazette) in July 1924. Over those 95 years the magazine has described, assessed and test-driven virtually every road car or racer the firm has built, as well as talking to the firm’s various owners, managers and engineers. Here we offer our pick from nine decades of coverage. Enjoy it.
