WONDERFUL FIELD FOR THE INTERNATIONAL TROPHY.

ALTHOUGH the entry list at single fees does not close until the 31st of this month, and at double fees on April 12th, a very imposing list of cars has been entered for the J.C.C. International Trophy race on April 28th. No official list is yet available but the following drivers have already filed their entry forms : Group I, Sir M. Campbell (Sunbeam), Whitney Straight (3 litre monoposto Maserati), the Hon. Brian Lewis (3 litre Maserati), Kaye Don (2.3 litre Alfa Romeo), Abecassis (Alfa Romeo), J. R. Cobb (2.3 litre Alfa Romeo), T. A. S. 0. Mathieson (2.3 litre Bugatti), and

T. E. Rose-Richards (2.3 litre Bugatti). There are also rumours of another monoposto Maserati, while Earl Howe will drive his 2.3 litre Bugatti if he is unable to bring back his M.G. Magnette in time from Italy. In Group 2 the entry list is composed exclusively of M.G. Magnettes, entered by G. P. T. Eyston (3 cars, one of them the single seater), E. R. Hall, Earl Howe,

Kaye Don (team of three), G. F. ManbyColegrave, C. Penn Hughes, Roy Eccles (two cars), H. C. Hamilton and R. T. Horton. This class should provide internecine strife of the most fierce character, and will be worth going to Brookla.nds to see, apart from the rest of the race.

Group 3 provides some curious contrasts and demonstrates the amazing increase in speed obtained from small cars in recent years. Here is the list so far : F. W. Dixon (two Alleys), R. T. Horton (single seater M.G. Midget), T. V. G. Selby (2 litre Bugatti), R. 0. Shuttleworth (2 litre Bugatti), A. H. L. Eccles (2 litre Bugatti), T. A. S. 0. lVfathieson (2 litre Bugatti), R. J. W. Appleton (Appleton Special).

Owners of 2 litre Bugattis have decided that they stand a good chance of success in the race, and much frenzied work is now in progress. Most of the old 2 litre G.P. Bugattis were uublown, but those fitted with this component are now being rapidly deprived of it. A. N. Spottiswode may enter the car

of this type he raced several years ago. The Appleton Special consists broadly speaking of a Riley Nine engine in a Maserati chassis, 1,100 c.c. type.

One of the best fields ever assembled for a big Brooklands race, and as the price of admission will only be 3s. 6d., a good crowd should turn up. They will miss a fine spectacle if they do not, especially as there will be a magnificent massed start.

New Bentley Director.

WE are informed by Messrs. Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., that Capt. Woolf Bamato has been elected a Director. Capt. Barnato was, of course, Chairman of the old Bentley Company, and has had a distinguished motor racing career at Le Mans, Brooklands and elsewhere.

Messrs. Bentley Motors are desirous of emphasising that this appointment does not indicate any change in the policy of the Company not to engage in motorracing.
