A somewhat, wintry journey was undertaken by members of the press to the Wellworthy Organisation in the New Forest. After lunch the chairman made a short Speech — in which he outlined the remarkable expansion of the company between 1920 and the present day.

Our first visit was to the factory where they produce Alfin brake drums. These brake drums are the answer to racing cars and high performance cars such as the Bristol. They have great heat-resisting properties.

We moved on to the factory where pistons and piston rings are produced. The output is prodigious and it is interesting to note that a large proportion of the output is for the export market.

To the technical student of high-class precision engineering-a visit to the Wellworthy factories would be as instructive as it would be interesting. — J. C. M.
