Another tale of woe ! I have been reading with interest the letters front owners of Triumph Heralds, Berkeleys, Ford Pepulars. c.o… and Feel that I must relate my own experiences with my 1033 Lagonda 16/80.
Within six weeks of purchasing this car I had trouble with the rear light bulb. Twice in the last two years I have been forced to replace it and I may well have to de so again in the near future. The Ki-gas primer is very variable in its performance and olive or twice. I have had to use the starting handle. I ant always rather thankful that they have one on this model. Then, a few months ago, the starter motor brushes had to. be replaced, a fact which was even more infuriating when one had reason to believe that they had already been renewed once in the last decade.
The limit was reached last summer, when on my way back from Spain, with four others in the car and a trailer On the back, the wretched thing boiled over. The occasion was very embarrassing as although we managed to reach the frontier we steamed past a vontiderable number of modern ears whose owners had stopped on the hill and who, judging by the steam around their vehicles, were enjoying a much-needed cup of tea.
So far I have not had to replete the engine, gearbox, prep.-shaft, rear axle, suspension or manifolds. hut I ant anticipating trouble with the near-Side rear wing within the next 10,000 milts, and as the guarantee ran out twenty-seven years ago this could prove to be quite expensive. ant.
