The punch-line from a B.M.C. advertisement stating incorrectly that they had won the Monte Carlo Rally was a mistake on the part of the Corporation’s advertising agents, who assure us that the offending line appeared only in the Evening News. It appears that in a desire to give their client service the advertising agency prepared alternative copy to cover various resultsthey had reckoned without Saab. B.M.C. themselves are completely exonerated.
