A Citroen Query
I am writing to see if any of your readers could help me, I have a 1931 Citroen C40, a photograph of which I enclose. The problem is whether the car was fitted with a sliding roof, and if so how it operated, also the size and other particulars that would be necessary to reproduce one.
I wrote to the Citroen Car Club at your suggestion who put me in touch with Mr. Guy Isbell who is a technical advisor for the “traction” section of the club. After a very interesting evening together we were unable to come to a conclusion.
As you will see from the enclosed photograph, I have fitted a fixed fabric roof to the car which I have been working on for the past six years.
If any of your readers could help I would be most grateful and I should also like to hear from anyone who has one of these cars, or may have owned this one at any time, I believe that this car was owned by Mr. Arthur Carp, Parsonage Farm, Puritan, Bridgwater from 8th of August 1941 to 1971 and was laid up from 1957. I bought the car in 1971, the particulars of which are as follows: registration number GT 5885, chassis number 512598 and was first registered on the 16th December 1931. I should also like to take this opportunity of thanking you for a very interesting magazine.
