VSCC "First Silverstone"

As certainly as the sun rises and sets, VSCC fixtures crop up again in their appointed places. Thus on April 14th, starting at 1.15 pm, the traditional 1908 GP Itala Trophy Meeting will be held over the Club circuit at Silverstone. As ever, it will commence with a 40-minute High Speed Trial with imitation pit-stop, a good event for novices or the slower pre-war cars. The big race is the ten-lap Itala Trophy scratch contest for Edwardian and vintage racing cars. Two more ten-lap scratch races will be contested, for vintage and pre-war racing cars and historic racing cars respectively, and these will be backed up by the usual five-lap scratch and handicap races. Various trophies will be won, the main ones the Itala and Lanchester cups, and points will be scored by pre-war cars towards this year’s MOTOR SPORT Brooklands Memorial Trophy and cash prizes. There is to be a practice session on the preceding Friday afternoon, notwithstanding the date — Friday the 13th! The public, but not their dogs, are admitted but entries have closed. — W.B.
