F1 'golden age' on TV

If the 1970s was your decade, you can relive the best of that era’s Formula 1 battles on ESPN Classic. From March 31, the channel is showing a nightly one-hour episode from the Brunswick Films archive, covering every year from 1970 to 1980.

Kicking off the run, 1970 follows the tragic season in which Jochen Rindt became F1’s only posthumous champion, while on April 1 the 1971 programme centres on Jackie Stewart (pictured). The other nine episodes include remastered clips of Fittipaldi, Hunt, Lauda, Andretti, Villeneuve and Scheckter, bringing the ‘golden age’ of F1 back to life. All episodes screen at 9.30pm.
