Late revision for F1 points

Just six weeks before the start of the 2010 Formula 1 season the FIA confirmed a further change to the points system, after consulting with teams. The governing body hopes to encourage overtaking by making the difference between a win and second place more significant than before.
Henceforth the top 10 will be rewarded on the basis of 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1, whereas in the initially announced version second place was worth 20 points. In a comparison with the old points system, used until 2009, it means 10 for a win now equates to 7.2 for second, rather than eight points as it was before. Other FIA championships will follow the same system.
