Alfa T33 back in action

The Alfa Romeo T33/3 driven to second place in the 1971 Targa Florio by Andrea de Adamich and Gijs van Lennep has returned to racing this season and is due to be piloted by Andy Newall at the Silverstone Classic.

Previously owned by Jon Shipman but now in the hands of Gordon McCulloch, the car (above) raced for the first time in seven years when Newall drove it in the World Sportscar Masters events at Brands Hatch in May.

“It’s really quick but fragile,” said Newall, who has re-prepared chassis 19 for racing. “It last raced at the Le Mans Classic in 2002 and has stood since then.”
