VSCC Lakeland Trial

IN CONTRAST to the club’s Welsh Trial only a month previously, the Lake District event was run over very dry ground in sunny, if windy, conditions. The lack of moisture on the surface meant that there were some very high scores on sections which are normally un-climbable, and the winner, Barry Clarke, only dropped three points in the whole event with his much modified Austin Chummy. The necessarily tight sections planned by the local organisers tended to benefit the small cars — the 30/98 Vauxhall contingent suffering particularly badly from the tight corners.
