MG – The Magic of The Marque by Mike Allison. 372 pp. 91/2″ x 8″. Dalton Watson PLC, Russell Chambers, The Piazza, Covent Garden, London WC2E 8MA. £19.95.

Mike Allison has done much of this before, that is, a largely pictorial, full history of MG cars from the bull-noses to the Longbridge-built cars, with comprehensive competition coverage of the famous racing and record breaking versions. Many of the pictures were in his book The Magic of MG, as he readily admits. But this larger volume permits more to be included and a fuller story of MG products, as distinct from a factory history. There are factory interior shots, 24 pages of very detailed specifications, from 14/28 to GT V8, and lots of production figure breakdowns.

We rather deplore the inclusion of advertisements in a £20 book, however. WB
