Ferrari has announced plans for a ‘Classic Centre’ to support the ongoing use of period Ferraris, including in competition. The marque is also considering a registration scheme to prove the eligibility of period sports and racing cars.

A book commemorating the life of the late Russell Bulgin has gone on sale. One of the finest automotive writers of the last 20 years, Bulgin died of lymphatic cancer in May, aged 43. The 128-page book The Very Best of Russell Bulgin compiles his best columns and features, and is priced at £15. Proceeds will go to the Royal Marsden Hospital.

F1’s ‘Academy Awards’, ‘The Bernies’, will be held at Autosport International on January 11, 2003. The glitzy motorsport-meets-music event will raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation.

The Kitchener K4B Formula Atlantic raced for the first time in nearly 30 years recently. Having nroken his wrist in the car at Mallory Park in 1973, Patrick Sumner consigned it his garage and only decided to rebuld it in 1990.

The BMW 328 Coupé won the 1940 Mille Miglia has been reacquired by BMW. Driven to victory by Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Baumer, the car was most recently owned and restored by Californian Jim Proffit.
