Double wins for Tony Smith (Ferrari 246) and Bugatti boss Thomas Bscher (Maserati 450S) headlined the final weekend of the Shell Historic Ferrari-Maserati Challenge at Monza. Unfortunately. Smith’s joy was wiped out by later shunting his Maserati Birdcage at Lesmo. Paul Knapfield hit throttle problems in the opening Group C race but stormed from the back of the grid in race two to win aboard his Ferrari 512BB/LM.
