THE RITISH EMPIRE ROPI-IY

THE BRITISH EMPIRE TROPHY AT BROOKLAN DS SAT. APR IL.30,1932

SUPPLETVIENTARY regulations are now out for the British Empire Trophy Race. This should be a great success in being an entirely new type of event for this country, of which the main details have already been given in MOTOR SPORT.

The chief points are that it will consist of a series of scratch races, followed by a final which will also be from scratch.

The heats, of which there are four, will be respectively for cars o • under 750 c.c. under 1100 c.c., under 2000 c.c. and unlimited, and the final will be for the first four cars in each heat.

The normal outside circuit of the Brooklands track will be used, and the heats will be run over a distance of 50 miles (18 laps) and the final over 100 miles (36 laps).

Motors may be run in any trim with any kind of open body, provided that they conform to the usual brake and silencer regulations, and also that they are capable of over 100 m.p.h. This is the sort of regulation which

one really likes to see in a track race, as although road work can provide excellent sport on comparatively slow cars, track racing depends for its success on speed and speed alone.

Awards to the extent of £100 for the winner of the final, with £50 and £25 for second and third, and awards in heats of £40, £20 and £10, are given in addition to the British Empire Trophy itself.

Entry fees, which include thirdparty insurance, are at the following rates :—Till March 24th £11, April 7th 216 and April 14th £21, when entries finally close.

All particulars of the event and copies of the regulations can be obtained from H. N. Edwards, The British Racing Drivers’ Club, Bangalore House, Newton Street, Kings.. way W. C .2.
