New rules for Historic Rallies
Sir,
The RAC MSA Rallies Committee is setting up a working party to discuss new rules for historic rallies in the United Kingdom, to be incorporated in the 1991 RAC MSA Motor Sports Yearbook.
The working group, which will include competitors, organisers and administrators with an active interest in historic rallying, require written input from anyone who feels that they have some contribution to make in this discipline of the sport.
Please do not just think to yourselves: “here we go again, the RAC MSA is going to make it more difficult for me to compete in historic rallies” — this is furthest from the truth.
Our aim is to encourage anyone with a suitable car to compete safely in events throughout the United Kingdom, but without the mixture of rules which currently exist. We hope that a standardisation of such rules will attract more people into the sport, if everyone knows that a set of simple rules will ensure their acceptance on all events organised in the United Kingdom.
I would ask that your written submissions are addressed to myself at the RAC MSA, Motor Sports House, Riverside Park, Colnbrook, Slough SL3 OHG, marked clearly on the envelope “Historic Rallies Working Group”.
Please put pen to paper — we need your contributions. DENIS CARDELL Chairman, RAC Rallies Committee
