A New Safety Glass

July 7, 2014

For those who are fearful that as soon as the wheels turn their cars may collide with something solid, there is much to be said for a new safety glass, which is akin to laminated, but with the advantage that it bends under impact. Even in vintage times Triplex safety glass was considered a good idea, and it seems likely that this new glass with a 0.039 in. thick interlayer will fulfil much the same role in the nineteen-seventies. It has been developed by Triplex and Monsanto. Incidentally, Mercedes-Benz, Citroën, Volvo and Saab standardise laminated windscreens.
