Accessories

We do not run a regular bits-and-bobs page in Motor Sport, preferring to comment as and when some truly good and useful accessory comes to hand. Such is the little Spinnaker dip-stick wiper. Modern cars use very little oil but the sump level has to be checked nevertheless and a piece of rag never seems to be to hand when this dirty operation is being carried out. The idea of the Spinnaker is that you fix it under the bonnet, where it will always be available for the dip-stick to be wiped properly between its nylon brushes. Whether the adhesive base supplied will be sufficient to retain it remains to be seen, but an 1/8 in. screw is also provided. Made by Kingsmere Engineering Ltd., of Winnersh, Berks., this sensible gadget sells for 5s.
