Wyn Owen

Wyn Owen has had again, for the making of a short documentary film of Parry Thomas’ LSR of attempt in 1927 which resulted in the tragic death of the great Welsh engineer/racing driver. Thomas had, of course, held the record at 171.02mph set the year before.

The old 27-litre car, dug up and restored by Wyn, went well, with several runs at some 80mph, if not at quite the extra 90 or more it achieved on that fatal day. The film Overland, directed by Chris Forster, had its premiere at the International Film Festival of Wales in Cardiff in November, support having come from the Arts Council of Wales Film Lottery Fund and the presenter of the D M Davies Award. Nice that Parry Thomas and his famous racing car were remembered.
