Bentley Motors v Mallalieu Engineering

We have received the following statement from Rolls-Royce Motors Ltd.:

“Bentley Motors Limited obtained judgement in the High Court against Mallalieu Engineering Limited, now known as Mallalieu Cars Limited, which confirms that they, Mallalieu Cars, are not entitled to use and indeed are obliged to remove Rolls-Royce and Bentley trademarks from rebuilt cars of original Rolls-Royce and Bentley manufacture. This legal action is in pursuance of Rolls-Royce Motors and Bentley Motors’ policy, and confirms their right and duty to protect the Rolls-Royce and Bentley name and trademark against this misuse, a policy that the Company intends to follow wherever there is an infringement.

“Friendly relations are still maintained with Mallalieu Cars and as a concession Bentley Motors are allowing the Mallalieu Barchetta and Oxford models to retain the Bentley radiator grille provided it is fitted with a honeycomb matrix rather than vertical shutters, but the Bentley name may not be used and Mallalieu now use badges which give the cars their own identity.”
