PORSCHE 917K SIGNED BY ATTWOOD

Whether it’s the sleek lines, rumbling flat-12, the sheer variety of models – take your pick from Langheck, Kurzheck, Can-Am and most things in-between – or even the famous story about Porsche’s efforts to make it a homologated racer in the first place, something about the 917 resonates with fans of all ages. One of the most memorable versions is the Salzburg 917K of 1970, the red-and-white beauty that secured the model, and Porsche’s, first Le Mans 24 Hours victory in 1970. Driven by Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann, it defeated the favoured, Martini-liveried, longer-tail version to make history. And now you can take a piece home with you. Thanks to our friends at Signature Store, we have a limited run of these models, each signed by Attwood, available via our online shop. Each faithfully detailed 1:18 scale model comes mounted on a gloss-black display base and includes a photo certificate of authenticity.

KIDS’ BEDROOM FURNITURE

If you’re cracking on with some lockdown decorating and sorting the kids’ rooms out, Car Bed Shop has
come up trumps. Together with its brilliant beds, it also offers themed furniture to add that finishing touch to your budding petrolhead’s pad. Check out the dresser styled as a retro petrol pump, or the garage front that doubles nicely as a functioning wardrobe. There are also storage containers styled as oil drums, spoiler wall shelves and a whole lot more.

BMW M SPORT BED

We all once wanted to sleep in a racing car – whether that’s one that doubles as a bed, or you’ve just got too much enthusiasm for your real track toy. Well, the good news for the younger generation is that Car Bed Shop has a dazzling range of interactive bed designs, inspired by the best sports cars. You can choose from several made-up designs, or the likes of the Ferrari 458 or Lamborghini Huracán, but there’s no overlooking this BMW M Sport homage. Available in three colours, it has working headlights, LEDs in the wheels and wing mirrors, can be operated by remote control, has working doors and even real leather on the headrests. And under the floor it makes noises. We want one…

MECCANO LAMBO

We’re perhaps a bit guilty of shining the light on the ‘it’s not a toy, it’s a scale model’ pastime of Lego, and often forget there are a host of other great kits available from other brands. This remote control offering from classic brand Meccano is a prime example. Based on Lamborghini’s Huracán or Aventador models, these kits recreate the structure of the Italian hypercars and then let you bolt them together and race them around your living room floor. The kits contain over 270 pieces and use real working scissor doors, coil spring suspension, moving engine pistons and a 2.4GHz radio control powertrain. They’re also suitably loud, with the Aventador featured in striking orange and the Huracán sporting an electric lime green colour.

WALLSAUCE MURALS

You’ve probably stared at that blank wall in your home and thought wistfully: ‘If only I were staring out across Monaco harbour on a grand prix weekend, or watching a life-size Henri Toivonen powersliding his Group B Lancia toward me around the Col de Turini…’ Now those visions can be a reality thanks to this range of murals from Wallsauce. With Formula 1 images licensed by leading snapper Darren Heath and rally art from the McKlein collection, you can take your favourite view and put it on your wall. All you have to do is submit your wall measurements, and then each mural is printed to an exact fit and supplied in wallpaper-style ‘paste the wall’ spec or as self-adhesive panels, so they’re easy to fit. And far more interesting than that old magnolia…
