VINTAGE MISCELLANY, June 1965

A 1926 13.9-h.p. Standard Charlecote 2-seater featured in an A.B.C. Television show recently. An immaculate if brush-painted 1934 Austin 10/4 saloon was sold last month for £60. A 1934 Sunbeam chassis is available in reasonable order for £15. The person enquiring some time ago for any Armstrong Siddeleys seeking good homes for their retirement is still searching for one, while a reader wants a vintage chassis, large or small. A 1930 Austin 20/6 towing a vintage Eccles Jacobean caravan accompanied an Austin 1800 towing a modern Eccles Moonshine caravan on a 1,500-mile publicity tour of Denmark and Sweden, which ended last month.

The Montagu Motor Museum has purchased the 1908 ex-Sparshatt Unic taxi. Much interesting history and fresh facts can be gleaned from Club magazines. For instance, the intriguing story of Citroen is continuing in the Citroenian and the story of how the Rolls-Royce Phantom I Continental was evolved has just concluded in Early & Late, the quarterly bulletin of the Rolls-Royce Section of the V.S.C.C. A 1931 Austin 7 saloon was saved from the scrap merchants in Hampshire recently. Peter Hull has joined the staff of the V.S.C.C. and will take over as Secretary when Tim Carson retires, circa 1970/71.
