Success and disappointment. – The Matra-Simca team won the Spa 1.000 Kilometres race, Jacky Ickx sharing the winning car with Jean-Pierre Jarier. In the Gulf GR7 (below) Derek Bell recorded the fastest practice lap, and was contesting the lead until the fuel pressure gauge broke, then later spun at the Malmedy chicane and needed to have a new nose section fitted.
