Panther West Winds

Sir,

I had occasion to visit the above company last year and probably started the “Morris Side Valve Engine” story whilst talking to David Franks.

The original occupants of the factory were Thompson & Taylor, who went there from their premises in Brooklands in 1953. I have owned Alfas for very many years, and when I went to Canada Road for the first time I found the whole factory making little flatfour, air-cooled o.h.v. engines for the Morris Minor. There were several cars there fitted with this engine, and very nice they looked too with two little red fans showing through the radiator grille and two tiny exhausts poking out at the rear.

Pity nothing ever came of it, but I wonder what happened to the engines?
