Doctor's orders

Sir,

As you infer in your editorial, an editor’s life is not one heady, garlanded gallop around the glade of the Muses…

However, reading The Good, the Mad, and the Ugly (April) I was reminded of Dr Johnson’s advice on purple prose: “Strike it out sir, strike it out!”

There has to be a new way of describing outrageous motor cars without producing odd giggling fits in readers. Road-legal Ferraris are not, after all, about serious motoring.

I am yours, Etc
