RR book

The R-R heritage trust has done it again! After producing 25 detailed and excellent books about the history of both RollsRoyce motor cars and its legendary aero-engines in its Historical Series and, also, the personalities who were associated with them, it has now published another valuable and interesting, indeed essential, report on Lord Northclffe – and the early years of Rolls-Royce, very ably written by Hugh Driver.

The foreword to the book is written by Lord Rothermere, who praises the new material that the book includes, such as a proper explanation of Alfred Harmsworth’s connection with the unusual R-R ‘Legalimit’ car, Beaverbrook’s attempt to obtain an interest in the R-R company from 1910, and C S Rolls’ attempt to persuade the Daily Mail to buy an aeroplane. Non-RREC members can obtain this most interesting little 128-page book, which is unbiased, having reference to Northcliffe’s Panhard, Mercedes and various other cars, from RRHT, the Hunt House, Paulerspury, Northants NN12 7NA.
