No one can begrudge Walter Rohrl a second autobiography. After all, he’s been racking up the successes on both the rally stages and the racetrack for more than 30 years. Walter Rohrl Diary, which follows his 1993 work, charts the German’s career from its humble beginnings in a Fiat 850 Coupe in 1968. It takes the reader through his two stints with Opel and Fiat, onto his long association with Audi, and right up to the modern day and his ongoing relationship with Porsche. There are also a host of appreciations of this twice world rally champion, from everyone from Fiat motorsport boss Daniele Audetto to fellow drivers Hannu Mikkola, Markku Alen and Stig Blomqvist. Plus there’s an appendix which lists his results in every major race and rally. The text, though heavy going at times, makes this book a must for the diehard rally fan. The great photography, on the other hand, means it is of interest to any motorsport enthusiast. GW
