Porsche paradise

The tri-annual Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Daytona International Speedway will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Porsche 956 and highlight the 917, when it is held in November this year.

The event, organised by former Porsche works driver Brian Redman’s Intercontinental Events Inc, will feature a massive assembly of significant Porsches. The last time it was held, in 2004, more than 600 racing Porsches and dozens of well-known Porsche race drivers appeared. The event, which is supported by Porsche Cars North America, will take place on November 2-4.

Expect to see a plethora of the event’s featured cars, the 917 and 956/962. There will be 917s in both familiar short-tail Le Mans spec and in Can-Am spyder form, and examples of the 956 and its descendant the 962, which won Le Mans seven times and the Daytona 24 Hours six times.
