scratch, but was unable to do any good. The first man away held the lead until the third lap, but Denly, Tottey and the two Walters then came up and Denly finished a winner at 88.93 m.p.h.
Private Owners’ Handicap. C. S. Staniland (588 Norton sidecar) was never seriously troubled on getting away with I min. 3 sec. start, but Williams, on the Sunbeam, made a very good attempt considering his scratch start and the splendid pace set
up ,by Staniland. Fitzgerald (Zenith M.A.G.) was third home, but stood second for a long time, until ousted by Williams. Staniland’s winning speed was 75.34 m.p.h.

A good finish to the meeting was provided by this race, which scheduled for five laps was reduced to three and gave Worters a good chance with his 348 ExcelsiorBlackbume. He took and held a lead until passed by Horsman’s Triumph, which looked a likely first. For some reason, however, Horsman dropped behind, enabling Worters to win at a speed of nearly 70 m.p.h. Horsman kept the second place, followed by I. P. Riddoch (Zenith-Blackbume), who had fought his way up from scratch. Great things were expected from Baragwanatb., Brough S.S. roo (so much in fact that he was not quoted by the bookmakers), but he slowed up and ;eventually faded away.
