CanAm Group 7 series—halfway stage positions
AFTER being runners-up in so many Group 7 races last sciion the works McLaren-Chevrolets have established their superiority in the Canadian-American Challenge Cup series, which reached its half-way stage at Mosport on September 23rd when Hulme completed his hat-trick. As can be seen from the accompanying table the works cars of Hulme and McLaren look as if they have won the series already, but at the time of writing further results were unknown. Last year’s champion, Surtees (Lola-Chevrolet), was lying third after the three rounds, and the bright new star of U.S.A.C. racing, Donohue, was fourth by virtue of finishing second at the opening round at Elkhart Lake. Ibis lyric Of racing seems to he packing in the crowds in the U.S., and it is certainly attracung handsome entries. Big money is changing hands and a may he that the general paucfty of money
and competitive cars in Britain killed this division of the sport on this side of the Atlantic.
