Shock Horror

With regards to the recent correspondence in your letters column about car sickness and static discharge.

I think your readers should be made aware of what happened to me whilst driving wearing trousers made of a “man made” fibre.

Having alighted from the vehicle at a petrol station and not having given myself the customary electric shock by touching and discharging against the car door, I inserted the key in the petrol cap, or rather I was about to when the key, acting as a conductor, discharged through the petrol cap.

Could the Fiat 127 I was driving have been the first car in orbit? Sheffield JOHN SANELLA
