Lister Postscript

DUNCAN RABAGLIATI of the Formula One Register has reminded us thus, contrary to the impression we gave in “The Other Cars of Brian Lister” (MOTOR SPORT, August 1984), the 1957 F2 Lister-Climan was raced by Archie Scott-Brown.

The car practised for the Fl/F2 International Trophy at Silverstone (14.9.57) managing 1 min 54.0 sec (Cliff Allison did 1 min 46 sec in his F2 Lotus 12 in the race). The car non-started due to oil problems.

At Goodwood (28.9.57) Scott-Bro. qualified 13th (in a field of 19) for the Woodcote Cup but retired at half distance with a broken oil pipe. The car was entered for the Oulton Park Gold Cup (5.10.57) but Scott-Brown elected not even to practise it. It was a car which Brian Lister clearly prefers to forget since his recollection was that he never raced it!

A mystery remains, where is the car now? Following up some clues provided by 11:ir Rabagliati we did think we were on t. trail, but the scent went cold. Can anyone help? — M.L.
