I found much of interest in this soft-back on open BMs. The 328 and Z3 hardly need a PR agent, but here are elaborate 501/503 variants, pretty 327s, Loewy and Colani one-offs, the whole 507 story, all the convertible saloons, and good coverage of the sensational Z1, a much more innovative vehicle than the current rather fey-looking Z3. Kittler describes competition machines from Wartburg and Veritas, anp the MM 328, as well as the 507’s hillclimb career. Workmanlike text and generous crisp pictures make this a good tenners-worth. Bravely ignoring his degree in industrial design after discovering night rallies in a Renault 8, GC joined Motor Sport by accident, in the Teesdale days around 1982 when Jenks and WB were office regulars and Mr Tee ruled with a rod of cardboard. He took part in some of the early historic rallies, winning one of the Pirelli Marathons, and regularly runs his Mk2 Jaguar in road events.
