AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX
THE AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX took place in torrential rain and was eventually stopped after only 29 of its scheduled 54 laps had been completed by the leaders. On the left an indication of the conditions can be seen by this shot of Chris Amon in the Ensign following Jody Scheckter’s Tyrrell. Victory in this abbreviated race went to Italy’s Vittorio Brambilla (below), this being the first time a works March has won a World Championship event. Bottom (right), James Hunt’s Hesketh 308 finished a worthy second after leading for a while, and Ronnie Peterson’s Lotus (bottom left) finished a determined fifth after a pit stop to change the Swede’s vizor.
