Business Disinterest

Sir,

Once again Frank Williams has badly treated a leading driver. It is possible to believe that one or two might be awkward and unreasonable — but four? Williams knows that these days enthusiasts (50 years in my case) have really no say in the matter and can be ignored. Sponsors, however, whose names appear on the cars and drivers, presumably do so for gain. Whilst as a non-smoker I cannot stop buying Rothmans cigarettes. I can and will stop buying Elf petrol, I will not buy a Renault car, and so on — as long as they support Williams. If others felt minded to do likewise in sufficient numbers it is possible that we could help to bring sport back to the Formula One business.
