More expensive, but a-Ford-able

The HSCC’s Historic Formula Ford Championship positions itself at the more ‘expensive’ end of the market. It caters for pre-1971 machinery, and these cars’ relative rarity means that a good one could cost you £10,000 or (substantially) more. However, the earlier FFs tend to hold on to their value better than the later cars, and once the initial purchase has been made, running costs are said to be similar to those of the Classic FF series.

And because it’s an intrinsic part of the HSCC’s well-organised package of races, this particular FF championship tends to be invited to the higher-profile historic events; the Classics regularly compete at race meetings that feature modern machinery, but they have also appeared on the BARC’s Classic package, which is aimed at lower-budget racers.
