Celebrities race to Silverstone

While Sir Stirling Moss may have been one of the big racing names at the Silverstone Classic on July 23- 25, other famous faces from television, sport and radio were also competing and performing at the event. X-factor contestants Danyl Johnson, Ruth Lorenzo and, er, Jedward took to the stage alongside The Yardbirds, Dr Feelgood and Rick Parfitt Jr.

A celebrity race was run in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund for research into bowel cancer. The BSM Centenary Abarth 500 Celebrity Challenge included the likes of Parfitt, who won, Travis drummer Neil Primrose and TV chefs James Martin and Heston Blumenthal.

“That was mental,” said Primrose after the race. “Rick pushed me off and then I cooked my tyres, but it’s good to come and have a play in aid of such a good cause.”
