Forum Focus

Within a few minutes of posting the Hungarian GP report online, the comments flowed in. A few lauded Mark Webber for his drive, and a few praised Vitaly Petrov for out-qualifying team-mate Robert Kubica for the first time. But the majority focused on the driving of a certain M Schumacher and his move on Rubens Barrichello.

“Schumacher is back to his old self,” said Paal Hanson. “He seems to be able to find the lowest point again and again!” Victor V added: “Schumi’s comeback is doing nothing for his legacy now, it is simply highlighting his dark side.”

Once the 10-place grid penalty for Spa was announced the conversation caught a second wind, and Rafael Perez was of the same opinion as both Damien Smith in his editorial and Nigel Roebuck in his column.

“Driving standards have to change,” he said. “That kind of example is terrible for young drivers. I remember Vettel doing the same thing. He’s not the only one blocking, chopping and changing lines. Today’s grid penalty for almost causing a terrible accident is too little in my opinion.” Well said, Rafael.

Nigel’s Newsletter

Nigel Roebuck’s newsletter continues to spark debate as last month he tackled the Fernando Alonso/Ferrari situation, before that race at Hockenheim…

“The team has been through a bad patch, but Alonso insists he can still be World Champion,” said Nigel. “He loves the team and they him, but the time has come for a series of good results, and everyone knows it.” Shortly after, Ferrari ‘asked’ Felipe Massa to move over in Germany, giving the Spaniard the win. Jonathan Anthony was not impressed: “What they did was an insult to real fans. And what is it about Alonso? He’s a cracking driver, but boy is he PR poison!”
