ExCel’s Formula E finale: Wehrlein takes a second title as Gen4 looms
Pascal Wehrlein emerged from a tense London finale with another Formula E crown, while Taylor Barnard claimed his first victory and the ExCel circuit closed its doors ahead of Gen4’s arrival

The 12th Formula E season reached its climax at the ExCel London Circuit, with the drivers’ title still up for grabs. Andretti’s Brit driver Jake Dennis topped the standings after the Tokyo rounds with Jaguar’s Mitch Evans and Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein breathing down his neck. Round 16 (of 17) saw Wehrlein on pole under the spotlights and he’d take the flag, with Dennis second. Then, in a controversial decider, Wehrlein finished higher than 2023 champ Dennis – 14th/18th – giving the 31-year-old German his second Formula E title in three seasons, while baby-faced 22-year-old Brit Taylor Barnard scored his maiden win. And so the curtain fell on the 1.3-mile ExCel track. A new, swifter Gen4 car will debut for the 2026-27 season, while London’s round, at Brands Hatch, shifts to a mid-season slot.
