New automatic transmission

A firm by the name of Variable Kinetic Drives Ltd has sent us a most interesting brochure on a new fully variable automatic transmission they have developed. This system does not use belts and expanding pulleys like the DAF system but is based on a hydro-kinetic torque converter coupling and embodies an element called the circulatory turbine. It is thought that the transmission may have racing, as well as road car applications, and Keith Duckworth of Cosworth has shown considerable interest in the system.
