Jody Scheckter celebrated the 25th anniversary of his Formula One world championship at Kyalami recently by demonstrating one of the Ferrari T4s he drove to the title in 1979 (below).

Tom Wheatcroft has been chosen to receive the first Meguiar’s Award for the ‘UK Car Enthusiast of the Year’. The Meguiar’s Award honours an individual who has made a significant contribution to the growth, visibility and quality of the car enthusiast movement. Wheatcroft, 82, was chosen from 17 nominees for his work in creating the Donington Grand Prix Collection over more than 30 years.

Tom Delaney, Britain’s oldest racing driver, had a lucky escape at Silverstone during the BRDC 500 when he was pitched from his Lea-Francis as it spun at Becketts. Fortunately, the 93-year-old was only slightly injured and has pledged to return to racing shortly.

Cooper 500 racer Richard Fry remains seriously ill in hospital after crashing in practice for the VSCC meeting at Mallory Park on July 25.

Meanwhile fellow Cooper 500 racer Brian Jolliffe was injured during the Copenhagen Grand Prix event on the streets of the Danish capital. Jolliffe sustained a back injury when his car hit the barriers.

Mark Green escaped with burns from a crash during the Group 4 race at the BRDC 500 meeting at Silverstone. After contact with Jerry Hooper’s Chevron B8, Green’s Lotus 23B hit the barriers on the pit straight, flipped and caught fire.
