British Rally Champion Guy Wilks is trying to raise £2m to land a WRC drive with Subaru next year.
The 27-year-old is urging investors and sponsors to make donations to his Back the Brit campaign via his website guywilks.com.
“Driving for Subaru would be the realisation of a dream for me,” said Wilks. “I think it would give the British fans something to cheer.”
Subaru has said it plans to run a third works car next year in addition to those currently driven by Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson, and the team has admitted it is already in talks with Wilks.
