How to eke out maximum performance from the Ford GT40's V8 engine: join Alex Brundle as he prepares for the Le Mans Classic
Watch this weekend’s action from the Le Mans Classic with the live stream above, as historic racing’s premier endurance event plays out on the full 8.467 mile La Sarthe circuit.
With Friday’s practice sessions out of the way, the racing gets started immediately on Saturday morning with a roar: GTs and prototypes from the 1990s and 2000s will be fighting for the first victory of the weekend in the Endurance Racing Legends support category.
That will be followed by Porsche Classic and Group C classes before the main event from 3pm BST: six races, each lasting around 45min and spanning the very earliest Le Mans entries from the 1920s, up to cars raced in 1981.
The action begins with Grid 4 (1962-1965 cars) and then comes Grid 5, the 1966-1971 cars that include Alex Brundle in a Ford GT40. We’ve been following his preparations for the Le Mans Classic — you can watch the videos at the bottom of the page.
These initial races run into the night, with the flag due to drop on Grid 3 at 9.01pm: the exact moment of sunset.
But don’t think thats the end of the day’s action: Grid 4 will be back in action for a full night race, beginning at 10.11pm.
Sunday then brings further racing, with each of the main grids contending three races over the course of the weekend.
See below for today’s racing schedule.
